Project Description

Our planning team provided a market and feasibility study for the Kipling Drive Subdivision, an affordable housing development, for the Mt. Rogers Planning District Commission. This project, located in Galax, Virginia, included two (2) studies; an area market study, and a feasibility study.

During the area market study, our team conducted demographic and economic research and analysis by utilizing all available data and information. Understanding the flow of persons in and out of a locality, what binds them to a locality, and discovering the unfulfilled housing needs in the community was key to defining a market area for the new housing in Galax. At the conclusion, we provided a final report.

For the second study, our team completed a feasibility study which included:

  • Researching and analyzing the existing physical conditions
  • Programming for the market opportunity
  • Development constraints
  • A proposed development program
  • Incentives, financing, and grant resources
  • Development Pro Forma
  • Fiscal impact
  • Final report
