NCDOT Bridge Rehabilitation NCDOT Division 4, NC Active construction on the NCDOT Bridge Rehabilitation project Photo of the bridge being rehabilitated

Project Description

This bridge preservation project is part of the State Bridge Unit: Bridge Painting Quality Assurance for the NC Department of Transportation (NCDOT) in Division 4. The project included painting and blasting four structures ranging from four spans to eight spans throughout Smithfield, North Carolina.

Our Industrial Coatings team provided inspection and documentation duties, monitored traffic control, monitored abrasive blasting, measured the surface profile of the blasted surface, monitored the ambient weather conditions, and observed the mixing of the paint components. We also witnessed the application of each coat on the structures and determined and recorded the dry film thickness. Our team ensured all applicable specifications and directives were complied with, and we monitored the removal of hazardous blast media and lead paint waste.
