Project Description

Summit is the prime design consultant for the NCDOT project B-5992: replacing the bridge on Fletcher Martin Road over the French Broad River near Alexander, NC.

The site is approximately 14 miles downstream of Carrier Park. In addition to the FEMA-regulated floodplain and floodway, a portion of the bridge is located over a railroad. Summit’s services include roadway design, hydraulic design, flood study, structure design, erosion control plans, traffic management plans, pavement marking, and signing.

The project is currently in the hydraulic design and flood modeling stage. Since the location is within a re-delineated flood study, a six-section analysis is being used for the No-Rise/MOA package.
