The Sounds and Colors Daycare is a dual language, child development center located in Hillsborough, NC. The school was developed by Dan Rockaway and his wife Martha Rockaway as part of their passion to develop programs that will facilitate second language acquisition through high-quality early education practices. With two school sites in Cary and a third smaller school in Hillsborough, the program has been so successful, that they wanted to build a larger school in Hillsborough to help meet the demand of the community.
Summit Design and Engineering assisted with helping to find a suitable site for the new school and continued to work with the owner to provide multiple engineering services throughout the entitlement and construction phase of the project. We provided civil engineering design, geotechnical engineering, subsurface drilling and exploration, design and construction surveying, and construction materials testing services. We expedited the Site Plan approval process with the Town of Hillsborough and obtained the required permits for grading, erosion control, and utilities. The school was completed and opened in September of 2019.
