The S-1 Parking Deck project for the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) consists of a new, 450 space multi-level parking facility. Our team provided soils observation and testing services to observe proofrolls, subgrade preparation, placement of the geogrid, and to perform compaction testing services during onsite grading activities.
Our team also provided observation and testing during earthwork and construction for the following:
- Site Work and Grading
- Utility Installation and Trench Backfill
- Undercut Observations and Unsuitable Soils Identification
- Material Quantification
- Proofrolling Operations
- Subgrade Observations
- Compaction Testing of Backfill Material
A Special Inspections Agent was also provided for this project for inspection, sampling, and field testing services during the placement of structural concrete for infrastructure, utility installations, and hardscapes. Prior to the placement of the structural cast-in-place concrete, our engineering technicians periodically observed the size, type and placement of the reinforcing steel (rebar). During the placement of the cast-in-place concrete, we performed slump, air content, unit weight, and temperature testing.
