We provided construction engineering inspection services and contract administration on this municipal project. After ninety-five years of use, the original five-span Mickley Avenue bridge had significantly deteriorated. The bridge also spanned over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, which had future railroad track additions planned. Between these two factors, the bridge qualified for an upgrade.
The original bridge was replaced with a 150-foot, single-span structure. We monitored all construction operations by providing daily field reports, materials received reports, pay estimates, and sampling and testing of all materials per NCDOT requirements. Our contract administration duties included but were not limited to; bid tabulations, facilitating project meetings, coordinating submittal distribution, monitoring DBE participation, change orders, and pay application approval and processing.
