Project Description

This is a design build project for NCDOT where Summit is the prime design firm responsible for project management, roadway design, hydraulic/stormwater design, erosion control, ITS and overseeing all other disciplines needed for a successful project delivery. The project consists of improving and upgrading approximately 1.2 miles of US 74 from just West of Ellenboro Road to just East of the bridges over Sandy Run Creek which are also being replaced as part of the project. The current facility does not meet the current functional classification requirements for freeway standards and all aspects of the project are being upgraded to meet current roadway design requirements. The most significant piece of the project is the addition of a partial clover interchange to replace the at grade intersection at Academy Street/Lattimore Road and US 74 due to a high number of personal injury crashes at the location and the creation of a controlled access facility. This project is ongoing.
