We are providing engineering design services for the addition of a sidewalk along Audubon Drive between Riverside Drive and Apollo Avenue. This project is the beginning of an effort to improve sidewalk connectivity and increase pedestrian safety along a multimodal corridor.
Our design reconfigures the road to consist of two 12’ lanes and installs curb and gutter and sidewalk on one side. To avoid affecting the parking lot of a motorcycle shop at the intersection of Riverside Drive, a retaining wall was added to reduce impacts and serve as a gateway into this corridor. Our hydraulic engineers designed the storm drain network and modeled the proposed sidewalk in HEC-RAS for the No-rise package. Summit also noted the location of utilities to minimize relocation of power poles, gas lines, water, and sanitary sewer. Only one fire hydrant will have to be moved. A pedestrian signal will be added to safely move pedestrians across Riverside Drive. We are providing detailed engineering design and will administer the public bid processes for the resulting construction project.
