Project Description

This $9 Million project involved full rehabilitation of 12 bridges on Interstate 40 as they cross the historic Biltmore Estate. It required managed coordination between NCDOT and the private owners of Biltmore Estate, as well as adherence to historic registry guidelines.

This rehabilitation project included six of the structures on the Biltmore Estate, and an additional six structures on I-40 that cross the Estate. The project included granite stone removal on the Biltmore Estate bridges, lead abatement, a new coating system, shotcrete repairs, joint replacements, deck overlays and steel repairs, and the monitoring of the remobal of hazardous blast media and lead paint waste. Our team provided lead inspection services for the entire project as well ad multiple coatings and transportation inspectors.
