Summit developed and led Engineering for Plans for the widening and realignment of US 158 in Northampton County. This 8.5-mile project with 21% trucks included interchanges with I-95 and US 301. The design consisted of widening the two and three-lane sections of the roadway to a four-lane divided freeway, typically with a total of four roundabouts on the project. Some sections were designed as Controlled Access, while others had Limited Access with a Superstreet design.
Summit was responsible for Roadway Design, Traffic Management, and Erosion Control plans for the project. After the project, Summit continued to assist NCDOT with Design and Construction revisions for all disciplines of design.
