Project Description

The City of Asheville has chosen Summit to design a bridge to replace the existing pedestrian bridge at Carrier Park in Asheville, NC. The bridge crosses over a bicycle track to provide pedestrian access to the recreational facilities inside the way.

The initial contract is for a Feasibility Study to determine which conceptual design to pursue, with the study focusing mainly on two points:

  1.  the ability of each option to achieve a No-Rise certification and
  2. the overall cost of each option. The bridge’s location within the floodplain creates the most significant constraints to the design.

Our team is providing a feasibility study for this project that incorporates several of our services, including Landscape Architecture, Structural Engineering, and Water Resources (Hydraulic and Hydrologic Analysis).
