Project Description

Summit completed multiple stormwater assessments for Orange County for an RFQ awarded in 2019. The properties included in these assessments are the Board of Elections (BOE) building, the Sheriff’s Office, the Whitted Complex, and a Transportation Administration Building.

Board of Elections Storm Drainage Improvements
An assessment report was prepared that highlighted areas that our team felt warranted improvements. Construction drawings were then designed based on the findings. Atlas Engineering was our sub-consultant, providing waterproofing recommendations for the existing basement foundations. The site improvements for the Board of Elections building included ADA-accessible ramp upgrades and storm drainage upgrades to divert water away from the building exterior as much as possible.

Sheriff’s Office Stormwater Improvements
Our team provided an assessment report for the existing areas of concern. Atlas Engineering was our sub-consultant, providing waterproofing recommendations for the existing basement and locker room. Site improvements included ADA-accessible ramp and storm drainage upgrades to divert water from the building’s exterior. It was determined that the most economical improvement was to apply waterproofing to the crawlspace’s interior wall adjacent to the locker room.

Transportation Administration Building
This project was initially considered to evaluate the existing administration building. During the scoping phase for the project, we recommended improvements that could be done at little cost and by staff. The project included detailed plans to abandon the existing septic tank and connect it to the existing sanitary sewer serving the complex.

The Whitted Complex
This was the most comprehensive project of the set. Our goal was to evaluate multiple buildings. A detailed assessment study was provided for possible improvements. Proposed improvements for this project include building a new handicap-accessible ramp to the 2nd-floor gymnasium, new storm drainage and under-drain system in the rear of the building, and waterproofing improvements. Atlas Engineering was our sub-consultant and provided all recommendations related to waterproofing.
