Our team provided Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection services for the Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) Parking Lots and Bridge project. The project included constructing several parking lots, a connector road, and a north entry bridge located at the southeast corner of the intersection of S. Martin Luther King Blvd. and Lowery Street in Winston-Salem.
We reviewed this project’s grading and utility plans from a geotechnical perspective to ensure they complied with the recommendations given in the final geotechnical report. We also assigned a field engineer to observe the installation of special foundations and soil reinforcement anchors. Additionally, a Special Inspections inspector was provided by Summit to oversee and inspect pile driving operations, site work and grading, utility trench backfilling and compaction, slope stability and geofabric installation, and subgrade preparation and compaction.
Our team also provided a Special Inspections inspector during the placement of structural concrete for foundations, grade slabs, and hardscapes.
