Announcing Our 2025 Q1 Pinnacle Award Winners!

As the days grow longer and brighter, we’re shining a light on our newest Pinnacle Award winners! Their efforts have already made a powerful impact, and we’re honored to recognize their outstanding contributions to upholding our company values. 

What is the Pinnacle Program?

The Pinnacle Program is our means of giving back to our employees. Each quarter, we recognize up to eight individuals from a pool of nominees put forward by their peers. 

Any team member at any level can submit a nomination for someone they feel should be recognized. This ensures that every voice in the company has the opportunity to be heard and represented. Furthermore, our goal is for employees to feel gratified knowing that their coworkers see and appreciate their service.

Our 2025 Q1 Pinnacle Award Winners!

Jacob C., Assistant Resident Engineer

Jacob Capps is a shining example of the dedication and professionalism that define Summit. He creates a welcoming and inclusive environment by supporting colleagues and encouraging collaboration. He is trusted by clients and teammates alike for his integrity and willingness to do the right thing, even when it’s not the easy path. Versatile and adaptable, Jacob never hesitates to take on new responsibilities, and his responsiveness in challenging situations has led to real project successes. His focus on building strong, sustainable communities reflects our shared vision, and he celebrates those wins as team successes.

Jacob’s leadership, client focus, and commitment to quality on the 540 project and beyond make him more than deserving of this recognition. His contributions embody our purpose and vision, and it’s with great enthusiasm that we nominate him for the Pinnacle Award.

Greg D., Department Manager

Greg has been with Summit for over six years, but his reputation for excellence is drawn from a deep well of over 30 years of experience. His keen intellect, logical mind, and extreme dedication to always completing a project with 100% effort and accuracy has made him an outstanding asset to the Summit community. He has always gone above and beyond to fulfill every job that is asked of him. Since he has been at Summit, he has worn many hats, including Structural Engineer, Transportation Structures Lead, and Drafting Technician; he was also embedded at NCDOT Maintenance for over a year as the head of maintenance and is well known for his quality mentoring. There is so much more that could be said about Greg’s dedication to his career– his versatility, commitment to excellence, and his efforts to help ingratiate new members into the Summit community touch on all of our values, and we’re thankful to have him onboard. Thank you, Greg!

Mai K., Architectural Designer III

Mai is an amazing designer whose rendering skills have taken Summit’s architectural designs to a new height. Because of her, we have impressed numerous, current clients and secured new leads. Her ability to stay cool under pressure and respond in difficult situations with poise and professionalism is commendable; she has been a stellar representative for Summit in many situations. Her hard work and dedication deserves recognition and demonstrates the Summit value of Building Success. Thank you, Mai, for being an invaluable asset to the Summit team!

Mitchell M., Civil Designer II
Mitchell is a powerhouse designer who goes above and beyond to meet client expectations. He often thinks out of the box to create new methodologies specific to helping achieve our project goals, demonstrating versatility. Mitchell also has stepped up to the plate and is helping guide projects through construction. This ties directly to our purpose and values, making Summit a trustworthy name and building success for us in our industry. Thank you, Mitchell!
Mark R., Transportation Technician IV
Mark is an incredibly dependable employee with a strong track record of building watertight relationships with the contractors that he works with. He brings dependability, integrity, versatility, and job knowledge to the field each and every day. He’s always available to lend a hand– other members of the Summit community have sought his adive on numerous occasions over the years, and he has never once refused to drop what he was doing to assist. Mark always represents Summit in a positive manner and has been a trusted and valued member of the Summit family for over 7 years. Thank you, Mark!
James “JT” P., Survey Technician
JT consistently demonstrates reliability and dependability in everything he does. He goes above and beyond his responsibilities to support others, even when they might be outside of his own department. His willingness to step in and help wherever needed reflects a true team spirit. Furthermore, JT possesses a consistently positive attitude, bringing his positivity with him every day on the job. Thank you, JT, for sharing some joy with your team!
Caroline W., SPC Specialist I

Caroline has been with Summit for about two years now. She has primarily served on the Complete 540 project, where she’s been responsible for overseeing erosion and sediment control and permit compliance activities by the contractor(s). She also provides assistance to Summit’s new Stormwater Planning and Compliance Department with private home building NPDES site inspections and Quarterly Compliance Inspections. Her flexibility and willingness to take on these tasks allow both CEI and SPC to meet and exceed clients’ expectations. Caroline has a genuine interest in people and demonstrates that well in how she communicates with those she works with; she takes her assignments seriously and represents Summit well to Clients. Overall, Caroline is a dependable, versatile, and trustworthy employee who exemplifies many of Summit’s core values in her work. Thank you, Caroline, for everything you’ve contributed!

Robert L., Transportation Technician III

Robert is a dedicated employee who has gone above and beyond in all aspects of his job. Robert has worked on the Complete 540 project since he started with Summit, and in the last year, he has been a critical part of bringing 540 to completion. Specifically, Robert has worked with several lower-level techs to teach them about their job, providing them with thorough and meaningful guidance. He exemplifies what it means to be a trusted and versatile employee by being thorough in his work and readily willing to help other inspectors. Thank you, Robert; we hope you enjoy your well-earned recognition!
