Announcing Our 2025 Q2 Pinnacle Award Winners!

A cool breeze and fresh air comes upon us this October, bringing with it the unmistakable feeling of fall– and the debut of our newest crop of Pinnacle Award winners! Dedicated and talented employees, our winners are members of the Summit community dedicated to upholding our company values.

What is the Pinnacle Program?

The Pinnacle Program is our means of giving back to our employees. Each quarter, we recognize up to eight individuals from a pool of nominees put forward by their peers.

Any team member at any level can submit a nomination for someone they feel should be recognized. This ensures that every voice in the company has the opportunity to be heard and represented. Furthermore, our goal is for employees to feel gratified knowing that their coworkers see and appreciate their service.

Our 2025 Q2 Pinnacle Award Winners!

Mike B., Senior Project Manager

Mike B. is a long-time traffic engineer with a career tenure of over 45 years. He’s spent eight of those years with us at Summit, and we couldn’t be more thankful for his time on the team. Well renowned for the quality of his work, our clients in NCDOT and local municipalities have commended him for his attention to detail, organizational skills, and his overall dedication to ensuring that each and every task is not only done, but done well. It’s this perspective, and the wisdom that reinforces it, that he’s passed down to the numerous engineers and technicians who have come under his guidance throughout his career in traffic engineering. Recently, another client applauded Mike’s superb work on a complex traffic signal system project. This is just another bit of recognition for what our team has known all along: that Mike is not only a valuable member of the Summit community, but a wise and accomplished individual in his own right, and we’re thankful every day for the work and guidance he provides to the team.

Zoe Z., Civil Designer I

Zoe is a girl on the go! Although she has been with Summit for less than a year, Zoe’s contributions to Summit’s Infrastructure Design Team are not to be understated. She joined us last fall, and in that time, she has been integral to the day-to-day operations of the infrastructure team, jumping in to acquaint herself with whatever components are necessary to get each job over the finish line. Whether she’s applying her newly acquired technical skills to software like Open Roads Designer or broadening her understanding of industry-fundamental knowledge, such as evolving traffic control strategies, Zoe approaches every task with a determination to see it through to the end. Even while on the path to pursuing her Master’s in Architecture, Zoe remains an active and dependable member of the team, balancing her academic requirements with her work responsibilities. Thank you, Zoe, for being such a shining example of what Summit’s values represent!

Paige L.,  Water Resources Designer

Paige L. began her journey with Summit just over a year ago, as an intern with a GIS background. In that time, she has made great strides, engaging in a significant amount of engineering work to our Water Resources team through developing new flood modeling skills and contributing to key deliverables and tasks. She’s a true example of someone who learns on the fly, making her an obvious example of Summit’s key value of Versatility. Thank you, Paige, for your continued contributions to our team!

Chuck J., Transportation Technician III
Chuck is a shining star in the world of Summit Transportation Technicians. He’s provided outstanding contributions to our teams out in the field through his incredible inspection work and attention to detail. More than that, though, is his dedication to helping others reach his level. Chuck stands out due to his willingness to be a mentor to other inspectors, which extends beyond the immediate team. He takes the time on every project to help others, whether they’re with Summit or not, to ensure that the best possible deliverable is prepared for our clients. He will even assist with tasks that fall outside of his scope of work. Chuck’s reliability, versatility, and quality of work brings out the best in our team, allowing Summit to shine as a company wherever he has been placed. Thank you, Chuck, for being both an incredible inspector and a stellar representation of Summit’s values. Keep up the good work!
Matt C., Survey Party Chief
Matt’s work on the R-4045 project is an example of all of the ways in which he excels in his role. Consistently going above and beyond for his work, Matt has faced tense, chaotic, and stressful circumstances with respect, poise, and professionalism that sets him apart. He earns trust and provides a soothing level of confidence that the project is in good hands with his boots on the ground by communicating what he sees onsite, suggesting minor adjustments based on site conditions, and visualizing the finished product while early in construction. Matt displays all of the Summit Core Values in pursuit of delivering the best product his team is able to, and for that, Summit thanks him.
Kim B., Senior Transportation Design Technician
Kim is someone who brightens the office with her encouraging and engaging personality. She has the ability to stay positive regardless of circumstances, and that positivity translates to an ability and desire to do whatever it takes to complete the tasks that end up before her. More than her work ethic, though, is her dedication to bringing out the best in the individuals around her. She has been instrumental in helping junior members of the team learn NCDOT drafting methods while also making the shift herself from NCDOT methods to operating in the private sector. Her consistency, dependability, adaptability, and willingness to work well with others makes her a shining example of Summit’s values, and we couldn’t be more thankful to have her as a member of our community. Thank you, Kim, for all of your hard work!
Lee B., Senior Construction Inspector

Lee has proven to be an outstanding member of our field crew in Virginia, with his contributions going so far as to earn him both recognition and a promotion by VDOT. Most recently, he helped VDOT transition between construction managers on his project by taking on more responsibilities above his level, demonstrating both his capabilities and his forward-thinking mindset. Some recent advice he was given? “keep doing exactly what he was doing.” This level of dependability is what makes up the backbone of our Trusted value, and is one of the things we admire most about Lee and his work. Thank you, Lee, for your continued hard work!

Libby S., Transportation Technician IV

A year out from Hurricane Helene, North Carolina is still inundated with the work needed in it’s aftermath. Libby has been pivotal in assisting our teams own contributions to the recovery effort. By assembling and reviewing project documents for Summit’s efforts in support of Helene recovery in NCDOT’s Division 13, Libby is able to note discrepancies in project documents so that appropriate action could be taken to correct these issues. This demonstrates her high level of integrity and dedication to maintaining Summit’s high standards of integrity and transparency with our client, laying the foundation for one of our key values: building trust. Thank you, Libby, for your honesty and transparency when working with such sensitive material. Your hard work is part of the bedrock that keeps Summit strong.

Congrats!

With so many talented members of our firm, it’s a real accomplishment to be recognized for a Pinnacle award. Please join us in congratulating these eight individuals for their exceptional contributions to our company which have led to our continued success. We’re proud to employ so many outstanding individuals and are honored to reward them for their service. Thanks to our winners for all that they do—after all, when our employees succeed, Summit thrives!
