DTCC New Applied Tech Building & Newton Building Renovations

Applied Technology Building
We provided Geotechnical, CMT and Special Inspections services during construction of the new 2-story, 40,000-square-foot Applied Technology Building located in the heart of Durham Tech’s campus. This new state-of-the-art building will serve as home to various programs, including Architectural Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Network Security and Electronics Engineering Technology. This new location is the first part of the College’s 2015 Campus Master Plan and will be the College’s first academic building constructed since spring of 2008.
Construction consists of earthwork and grading, utility installation and relocation, typical shallow foundations, foundation drainage system, column footings, reinforced concrete, slab on grade and elevated slab on metal decking, reinforced masonry, structural steel framing, parking lot construction, concrete and asphalt paving.
Newton Building Renovations
We provided Geotechnical, CMT and Special Inspections services during the renovation of 50,800-square-feet of space within the existing Newton Building, located on Durham Technical Community College’s (DTCC) main campus. This large renovation project was performed over the course of two summers in 2020 and 2021.
The renovation included the demolition of existing finishes; the installation of a new front façade, fire alarm, and sprinkler system; and miscellaneous PME system upgrades to support the renovated labs and classroom space. Construction consisted of earthwork and grading, utility installation and relocation, typical shallow foundations, foundation drainage system, column footings, reinforced concrete, slab on grade, reinforced masonry, miscellaneous steel framing, concrete paving and asphalt resurfacing.
