The First Pinnacle Award Winners of 2023 Are Here!

Here at Summit, we recognize that our firm is made up of many, many moving parts. We have fourteen different service departments, and each of those departments is made up of talented, hard-working individuals. We know that it’s our employees that keep the gears in motion, and that’s why we created the Pinnacle Program: an employee recognition program that ensures that our staff is recognized and rewarded for their dedication to upholding our values.

What is the Pinnacle Program?

The Pinnacle Program is our means of giving back to our employees. Each quarter, we recognize eight individuals from a pool of nominees that were put forward by their peers. A total of 32 Pinnacle Award winners are chosen each year.

Any team member at any level can submit a nomination for someone they feel should be recognized. This ensures that every voice in the company has the opportunity to be heard and represented. Furthermore, our goal is for employees to feel gratified knowing that their coworkers see and appreciate their service.

Our 2022 Q1 Pinnacle Award Winners!

Headshot of Q1 Pinnacle Award Winner Melissa McAdams
Melissa M., Accounting/Payroll Clerk II

Melissa is known for going above and beyond in her role as an accounting and payroll clerk! She’s a wonderful team player who is always willing to jump in and help.  She’s committed to meeting every deadline that ends up on her desk, including payroll and months-end reports, which makes her extremely trusted among the Summit team.

Headshot of Q1 Pinnacle Award Winner Randall Moore
Randall M., Project Coordinator

Randall sets an outstanding example for his employees, putting in as many hours as necessary to complete projects on time and accommodate his team’s needs. He never assigns or delegates tasks he would not be willing to do himself, which signifies a true leadership mindset.  Randall also prioritizes his team’s well-being by encouraging them to maintain a healthy work-life balance. He understands the importance of nurturing and developing his team’s talents, and he works hard to provide opportunities for growth and development. His continued commitment to his team represents Summit’s values of versatility and trustworthiness.

Q1 Pinnacle Award Winner Don Sever in the office.
Don S., Senior Project Manager
Don has taken up the responsibility of mentoring multiple individuals in the company. By sharing his knowledge and expertise with others, he helps to educate and inform not only his department but others who work cohesively alongside them. Don also operates in the spirit of collaboration, providing opportunities for other departments to be involved in projects and passing along his extensive technical knowledge. Through his efforts, he has come to represent the Summit value of building success.

Pinnacle Award Winner Katy Birky poses for a headshot outside.
Katy B., Graphic Designer/Marketing Assistant
Katy has been extremely diligent and hardworking as our resident graphic designer. Though her plate is always full, she still always finds the time to help when something requires graphical attention—and the quality of that work is always stellar. Booklets, fliers, banners, newsletter content, social media graphics, videos—when it comes to graphic design for the marketing team, she can do it all. She is an asset to our marketing team and demonstrates the Summit value of versatility.
Headshot of Q1 Pinnacle Award Winner Colby Chambers
Colby C., Field Technician II

Colby was Summit’s Lead Inspector for a project with a new client. During that time, he showed his integrity, technical knowledge, and ability to accommodate the client’s testing needs across a 342-acre site. The fast-paced nature of his job requires early mornings, late nights, and many weekends, but Colby stepped up to the plate to ensure our client’s needs were always met. The client was so impressed with Colby that they said if he was the on-site lead for the next project, they would draft a new contract and make Summit the sole service provider for inspections.  Colby is a huge part of Summit’s success and continued growth, and his recognition is well-earned.

Headshot of pinnacle award winner Corey Autry Chambers
Corey A., Transportation Technician I Trainee

Corey works well above the technician level that NCDOT currently classifies him as. He has taken on full responsibility for a large initiative: keeping up with the lighting and ITS installations on the largest section of the Complete 540 project. This shows great initiative, coordination, and dedication on his end. Corey’s hard work is directly contributing to Summit’s success on our largest CEI project, which is emblematic of the Summit value of building success.

Headshot of Pinnacle award winner Michael Moore.
Michael M., Transportation Technician V

Mike is extremely invested in the success of his team and the projects he works on. A proactive employee, Mike is constantly working to develop junior technicians and prepare them for career advancement, which shows both his leadership skills and his desire to help build a stronger and more knowledgeable team. He is also a noted problem solver, which makes him an invaluable asset to the Complete 540 project team.

Headshot of Pinnacle Award Winner James Smith
James S., Project Manager

James is a dedicated, loyal, trustworthy, and selfless employee who places client’s needs and expectations above all else. As a project manager, he strives for excellence and perfection in all his work and puts in the effort to ensure his projects go beyond expectations.  His eagerness to jump in and assist other employees in the Traffic/ITS Systems Department is commendable, and his presence is a key component to the success of both Traffic/ITS Systems projects and department as a whole.

Congrats!

With so many talented members of our firm, it’s a real accomplishment to be recognized for a Pinnacle award. Please join us in congratulating these eight individuals for their exceptional contributions to our company, which directly contributes to our continued success. We’re proud to employ so many exceptional individuals and are honored to reward them for their service. Thanks to our winners for all that they do—after all, when our employees succeed, Summit thrives!
