The Summit Story: Our President’s Perspective

Posted By: Ariana P. and Katy B.

Introduction

This week’s chapter of the Summit Story comes directly from the top: Our president, Troy D.

Serving in a leadership role, Troy has a unique perspective on how our firm has developed and grown. In this installment of the blog series, he offers his views on the first office location he worked in, the people he first met when he signed on, his connection with familiar faces at Summit, his relationship with Jim, and what has kept him working for Summit all these years.

What was your first office like?

It’s a peculiar position to be in when your office is centered around an active testing facility. Troy lays out his experience in his first office space, talking about what an experience it was to always be adjacent to the lab!

Who were some of the first people you met?

Troy had known Jim long before he began his own tenure at Summit, but he was not the only friendly face to be had. Many of Troy’s contacts from the NCDOT had begun working for Summit in the decades since he had departed– so much so that he considered his first few days at Summit a reunion.

What are some defining moments in your career with Summit?

A lot of Troy’s perspective of Summit comes from the outside, through Jim. Witnessing the growth and development of the firm is what defines Summit to him.

Do you have any unique stories or memories?

The Summit Story really does begin with Jim’s perseverance. Troy’s own memories of Summit begin before he even began working for Summit. Jim Parker, our CEO, is well known for his dedication and work ethic, and this was true even throughout his prior work with Troy.

What has kept you working at Summit?

Time and time again, the reason people continue to work for Summit comes down to the people they work with. Troy is no exception– all of the pieces and people he works with within the organization is what he values most about his time here.

The Summit Story continues…

Although this is the final section of the Summit Story, the exploration of our past doesn’t end here. In March, we’ll be featuring an in-depth look at Troy and Jim’s past and the journey that’s taken them to where they are today.
